In order to allow all the students in our community to take part in the after-school program, the PTA offers a limited amount of scholarships to families in need.

You can now request a scholarship through the registration form, please indicate there what level of scholarship support you are requesting (e.g., 25%, 50%, etc.). If you receive a scholarship your spot will be saved ahead of the lottery. Please note that this information will be kept highly confidential.

If you are unable to sign up online please reach out to our MES PTA Families in Need Liaison for help signing up.

Volunteers

The management of the After-School Program is done solely by MES PTA volunteers. To make it possible we need after-school program volunteers (2-3) each day to assist with attendance and other general logistics. The time commitment is generally 15-20 minutes each week on the day you register to volunteer.

As an After-School Volunteer you will receive one guaranteed spot in any class and reduction in class cost by 50%. You will receive your coupon code on Saturday once the lottery spots have been assigned.

If you are interested, please sign up to volunteer or reach out to the MES PTA After-School team by email (please cc’ jcatanese@magnoliaschoolpta.org).

To volunteer you must complete the required SPS School Volunteers training and other requirements, and be in good standing.

Registration

To register, we use an online registration tool called 6Crickets.  You will be able to register and book all of your classes through this website. It is highly recommended that you create an account and register your child before registration officially opens.

Use the Parent’s Guide if you need help registering for 6Crickets. Under My Account, click on Edit Profile. Here you can enter your credit card information and opt out of email subscriptions if you wish (otherwise you will start receiving 6Crickets emails and newsletters).

Spring Session Lottery Results

We are aware that the shift to a lottery system is a change that may be less convenient to some parents, however it also makes our After-School program more accessible for families who may not be able to as easily register within seconds of the open of registration online.  This aligns with our school and PTA values for inclusion and equitability.

We would like to provide full transparency to the lottery process. Please see below the number of students enrolled to the lottery in each class vs. the max number of seats in each class. A small number of spots were assigned to volunteers for the After-School program and students with scholarships

  • Parkour (K-2) - 25 / 10
  • Parkour (3-5) - 9/12
  • Mad Science - 24/19
  • Finding Nemo Musical - 30/16
  • Pokeman - 22/17
  • Watercolor - 18/20
  • Craftlab - 12/13
  • Lego (K-2) - 23/16
  • Lego (2-5) - 16/13
  • Yoga - 21/10
  • Filmmaking - 27/14
  • Creative Coding - 14/9
  • Piano Keyboard - 21/12
  • Spanish - 25/11
  • Kickball - 12/18
  • Chess Beginner - 6/16
  • Chess Intermediate - 17/21

We can see from this data shows that some classes have very high demand and this provides valuable insights for future planning of the After-School Program.

We encourage you to reach out to the After-School program lead with any questions, or suggestions for the program.

Creative Coding offer their classes as virtual after school coding classes.

Class Description - Creative Coding online uses your child’s own creativity to make learning coding fun, as they write their own, unique computer game. Your child’s own ideas are more interesting and motivating to them than any “class assignment”. Our caring, supportive teachers use positiv reinforcement and proven, project-based learning to help your child succeed at their own pace. Social interaction between kids is half the fun, as they share and play each other’s games in a supportive, welcoming environment.
