Scholarships

To ensure all MES kids can take part in this program, the PTA offers scholarships to families in need. You can request a scholarship through the registration form. If you receive a scholarship your spot will be saved ahead of the lottery. This information will be kept highly confidential.

If you are unable to sign up online please reach out to our MES PTA Families in Need Liaison for help signing up.

Volunteers

The management of the After-School Program is done solely by MES PTA volunteers. To make it possible we need after-school program volunteers (2-3) each day to assist with attendance and other general logistics. The time commitment is generally 15-20 minutes each week on the day you register to volunteer.

As an After-School Volunteer you will receive one guaranteed spot in any class and reduction in class cost by 50%. You will receive your coupon code on Saturday once the lottery spots have been assigned. You must still sign up via the lottery even though you have a guaranteed spot in your chosen class.

If you are interested, please sign up to volunteer or reach out to the MES PTA After-School team by email (please cc’ jcatanese@magnoliaschoolpta.org). We sincerely appreciate the support from past volunteers and look forward to continuing this great tradition.

To volunteer you must complete the required SPS School Volunteers training and other requirements, and be in good standing.

Registration

To register, we use an online registration tool called 6Crickets.  You can register and book your classes through this website. It is highly recommended that you create an account and register your child before registration opens.

Use the Parent’s Guide if you need help registering for 6Crickets. Under My Account, click on Edit Profile. Here you can enter your credit card information and opt out of email subscriptions if you wish (otherwise you will start receiving 6Crickets emails and newsletters).

AFTER-SCHOOL POLICIES AND KEY DETAILS

  • The MES After-School Program is for Magnolia Elementary students only. Students will be dismissed from school to the afterschool program.
  • Check grade requirements for each class and the duration (e.g., classes are either 60 or 90 minutes). Teachers and vendors have posted grades requirements as well as other important information.
  • You agree to share your contact, phone number with the class, sign-in/sign-out volunteers, and teacher/vendor. This contact is used if you are late in picking up child or if child has an issue during class.
  • You are responsible for contacting the teacher if your student will miss class. You must contact the teacher ahead of the class to help ensure there are no issues when PTA volunteers are taking attendance at the start of each class.
  • Refunds and the refund policy are at the vendor’s discretion. We encourage them to accept cancellations before class starts but we cannot make any guarantees.
  • All programs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. So please sign up and help keep these classes going. We appreciate your support!
  • You are responsible for reading the Parent Handbook and following all requirements.
  • Safety, respect, and collaboration are keys to participation. Students must follow the code of conduct and be positive participant. Behavioral issues will be addressed by the provider with parents and, if necessary, students may be removed from classes.
  • We look forward to having your child and your family participate in the amazing classes offered in our After-School program. Thank you for making this important part of MES possible!

Creative Coding

Creative Coding offer their classes as virtual after school coding classes.

Class Description - Creative Coding online uses your child’s own creativity to make learning coding fun, as they write their own, unique computer game. Your child’s own ideas are more interesting and motivating to them than any “class assignment”. Our caring, supportive teachers use positiv reinforcement and proven, project-based learning to help your child succeed at their own pace. Social interaction between kids is half the fun, as they share and play each other’s games in a supportive, welcoming environment.
